Thinking about friendship today and what it means to me and what it means in general. Raised by a dominant father and two older brothers, I often struggled with forming relationships with women. I know people whose friends become like sisters. That never happened to me, not yet anyway. I’ve gotten better at it as I’ve gotten older though. I consider myself to be a good friend now. I make it a point to stay involved in the lives of the people I love but as I get older I realize more and more how important it is that those people love you back. Tired of shoveling dirt into a hole that turns out to be a tunnel, constantly hoping to build a foundation, I’m done with the bullshit.
“It happens to everyone as they grow up. You find out who you are and what you want, and then you realize that people you’ve known forever don’t see things the way you do. So you keep the wonderful memories, but find yourself moving on.”
