There are only really two types of bags I find acceptable. The first is a clutch. As small as a wallet or as big as a file folder doesn’t matter. What does matter is that it only hold the essentials. This is when you ditch the wallet for just the credit cards and only bring your car key and your favorite lipstick. I can’t find any I like right now but, fear not for there is another type of bag I love to love that loves me back. The tote. Endlessly roomy, preferably structured, and the best quality you can afford. It can carry a day’s essentials and it can hold your clutch which you can then pull out and use when you don’t want to lug your tote around er tote your tote some might say. Some people not me I would never say that…

They are just plays on the clutch and the tote.

In size order… Wallet = small clutch with credit card slots, ClutchCrossbody = a clutch with a strap which should be hidden and/or removable and only used in emergencies when you’re drunk way downtown and your friend casually mentions you only have 15 minutes until the last train leaves from Grand Central, ToteShoulder Bag = a tote with a hidden and/or removable strap for when the new season’s merchandise hits stores and that last five minutes before you give up and go to the fitting room because you’re carrying so much crap you’re losing feeling in your fingertips.
